Parent Involvement: A New Question for Head Start

Head Start was the first early childhood intervention program to stress parent involvement as a key to children's and families' positive growth and development. Now 40 years old, Head Start and similar programs face a new challenge: how to make parent involvement happen. This two-page Snapshot highlights a recent FPG study that examines parent involvement, including amount of time and types of activities, as well as relations between parent volunteers, families, teachers, and classroom characteristics.
