Scholars know that early life stress exposures are associated with adverse health outcomes and heightened anxiety symptoms in adolescents. Wanting to explore this further, FPG's Aysenil Belger, her graduate student Rachel Corr, and an interdisciplinary team of investigators from UNC and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia examined the impact of exposure to multiple categories of victimization (polyvictimization) on brain circuits associated with acute stress responses and contributions to mental health.

With this upcoming virtual series, NIRN will provide a unique opportunity for the implementation science community to come together and participate in the alignment of the implementation support practitioner core competencies to activities within the implementation stages.

Research scientist Sandra L. Soliday Hong was recently named head of FPG's Policy Division, which focuses on translating and communicating the results of FPG's rigorous research, evaluation, implementation, and technical assistance work into effective federal, state, and local policies.

With the 2021 launch of FRONTIER (Fostering Research on Neuro-Prevention via Infrastructure, Education and Relationships), founder and director Diana Fishbein is furthering her mission of mitigating the impacts of adversity and promoting healthy development for children and adolescents.

The Impact Center at FPG has created an exciting new resource, “Implementation Science at Work.” The podcast, which dropped its initial three episodes in November, explores questions and strategies in implementation science including tackling community health issues, reducing health disparities, and improving community and population outcomes through building capacity.

Researchers at FPG have recently launched the Child Find ACCESS project, a model demonstration to improve services and results for infants, toddlers, and children with disabilities. The project, which aligns with the Institute’s commitment to equity, is designed to address ongoing challenges experienced by states in identifying infants and toddlers needing early intervention services, which has resulted in persistent racial inequities and disparities in identification rates.

Allison De Marco, MSW, PhD, an advanced research scientist at FPG, has been selected by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for its prestigious Interdisciplinary Research Leaders program, alongside two colleagues, Danielle Spurlock, PhD, UNC Department of City and Regional Planning, and Donna Carrington, executive director of Community Empowerment Fund.

During the final webinar celebration of the Institute’s 50th anniversary of excellence in TA, the emphasis was on looking to the future. The keynote speaker and panelists focused on inspiring the early childhood education and care field going forward, and the importance of centering the lived experiences of the children and families served.
