Watch FPG's Kate Gallagher Deliver TED Talk at UNC

February 7, 2015

FPG's Kathleen (Kate) Gallagher spoke before a sold-out TEDxUNC conference crowd about the transformative power of high-quality early care and education. Watch it here. (Her talk begins at the 5 hours, 54 minutes mark on the video.)

Gallagher's current projects include the development of a mindfulness-based program to enhance the health and well-being of early childhood professionals. At FPG's upcoming Inclusion Instititute, she will offer a special pre-Institute workshop on Integrating Mindfulness for Working with Children, Families and Professionals.

The theme of this year's TEDxUNC conference is "Assembly Required." Gallagher's talk extends the assembly metaphor to what she calls "the single most important feat of construction that our society undertakes... the assembly of physically, cognitively, socially, and emotionally healthy children."

Gallagher has taught and worked directly with young children, families, and early childhood professionals for over 25 years. Her research and service focus on the design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based approaches that support the learning and well-being of young children, families, and early childhood professionals in the contexts of poverty and disability.

FPG will post the full text and graphics from Gallagher's TEDxUNC talk when they are available.
