SCRIPT-NC has been funded by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs since 2011; current funding is for $1 million over 5 years, from 2023-2028.
Community colleges play a key role in preparing early childhood teachers in North Carolina, with 58 community colleges offering programs serving all 100 counties. Through technical assistance, professional development, course enhancement presentations, community workshops, and national webinars, SCRIPT-NC has been helping community college faculty prepare and train educators to support children with and without disabilities and their families for more than 14 years.
SCRIPT-NC has enhanced preparation and training of ~10,000 students enrolled in credit bearing courses, Associate’s degree, or certification/licensure programs across NC’s diverse counties (e.g., rural, urban, military base), many of which serve communities where the poverty rate is above 15 percent of the population.
