UNC-Charlotte Targeted Reading Intervention Training

Staff from the Targeted Reading Intervention (TRI) at Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute at UNC-Chapel Hill will provide TRI professional development training for eight faculty members from the UNC-Charlotte College of Education. Faculty members will receive two half-day TRI training sessions; practice doing TRI strategies with 1-2 kindergarten and first grade students who are considered struggling with early reading; video-record themselves doing TRI strategies with aforementioned students; and receive professional feedback from TRI trainers on their video-recorded practice sessions. All faculty members will receive TRI resources (TRI Reference Tool, student books, and implementation materials). At the end of the training and feedback period, faculty members will be considered certified to implement the TRI with early elementary students.
