Program on Mindfulness & Self-Compassion for Families

This online training is being offered using Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent to you prior to the beginning of class. Each parent-child pair will be invited to share a computer screen while they participate in the sessions together. This class is for children 6-10 years of age with their parent/caregiver.

Class sessions will begin with a check-in, which will be followed by a mindful moment. During mindful moments parents and children will be invited to notice something that is happening in the present moment (such as listening to sounds or noticing body sensations). Parent-child pairs will then engage in a series of mindfulness and self-compassion mini-lessons and practices. Lessons incorporate fun metaphors, objects, and stories to teach relatable ideas and practices. Parents and children will be invited periodically to pause and discuss their class experiences with one another (in the online environment, the parent and child will mute themselves as they discuss their experiences with each other). Each class will also include a simple art activity or a game.

The course runs from February 11–March 18. Class will be held Thursdays, 5:00–5:50pm EST.
