A new suite of practical, research-based resources from the UNC Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute (FPG) is supporting communities as they build their capacity to implement evidence-based programs and practices effectively.

Created by implementation specialists within FPG’s Impact Center, the Implementation Capacity for Triple P (ICTP) Implementation Support Practice Action Guide Series helps communities in North Carolina and South Carolina strengthen and sustain implementation of the evidence-based Triple P – Positive Parenting Program system of interventions. Designed as a comprehensive collection of guides and reference materials for current and future Triple P support partners in the Carolinas, the series also shares research, strategies, and lessons that can be applied to the implementation of other programs and practices.

According to FPG’s Will Aldridge, PhD, the guides were developed with a broad range of users and applications in mind. “Whether you’re a funder, policymaker, or implementation support provider interested in Triple P or simply interested in taking this body of work and applying it to your own implementation activities, you’re going to find something useful,” Aldridge says. “Moreover, we hope you’ll keep coming back to learn more as additional guides are released.”

Action Guide 8: ICTP Design and Consultation Support

This action guide, Action Guide 8: ICTP Design and Consultation Support, provides an in-depth description of design and consultation support, which is generally focused on statewide partners, although it can be used with regional Triple P partners participating in universal support only. It also provides a full description and explanation of the importance of Implementation Capacity for Triple P (ICTP) design and consultation support, how it differs from most types of ICTP regional implementation support, and what it looks like in practice.

Action Guide 9: ICTP Media and Networking Activities

This action guide, Action Guide 9: ICTP Media and Networking Activities, describes the ICTP projects’ approach to guiding Triple P systems partners’ activities toward effective implementation practices and equitable outcomes through communications, media, and networking activities. These activities complement direct implementation support activities provided by ICTP regional support teams and other implementation support practitioners.

Action Guide 10: ICTP Project Infrastructure for Ongoing Learning and Improvement

This action guide, Action Guide 10: ICTP Project Infrastructure for Ongoing Learning and Improvement, describes two elements of the ICTP projects’ infrastructure that enable ongoing learning and improvement: the implementation support quality and outcome monitoring system and the peer-to-peer practice coaching process.
