Evaluation of Smart Start's Race to the Top-Early Learning Challenge Child Care Health Consultant Project

This project will evaluate the North Carolina Child Care Health Consultant (CCHC) project. The CCHC project utilizes health professionals to provide consultation through site visits and by telephone to promote healthy and safe environments for young children in child care settings in North Carolina. Through these services, the goal of the project is to increase the percentage of children with high needs who participate in ongoing health care as part of a schedule of well child health visits, and of those participating children, the percentage who are up-to-date in a schedule of well-child care and developmental screenings. To further examine the CCHC project we have designed a comprehensive evaluation to determine how well the model combined with regional coaching is meeting those goals.
