FirstSchool Online Education and Support: Inquiry and Equity in PreK Through Third Grade

FPG Child Development Institute will develop and deploy an online course to promote inquiry and equity in PreK through third grade education. The project will build national PreK-3 expertise by expanding the reach and impact of the FirstSchool approach, developed with funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Participants in the online course will include teachers who are receiving data feedback and coaching through other FirstSchool projects as well as teachers who only take the online course. Two ten-week courses will be offered over the two year span of the project. The course will be offered free to these participants through funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and one or more state education agencies. Participants at two schools in North Carolina will receive coaching in addition to the online course. In year two FPG will seek opportunities to continue providing the course by charging fees to participants. FPG will provide the course content, design, and evaluation. Teachers who complete the course will receive continuing education units through the University of North Carolina Center for Continuing Education.
