Through funding provided by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation, Be Active Kids movement guides are available for free to any North Carolina child care provider or teacher who works with children birth to five years of age. Providers and teachers are asked to attend a training session given by a local Be Active Kids trainer. Over 200 active, dedicated volunteers serve as Be Active Kids trainers statewide. Be Active Kids movement guides and associated resources are distributed at training sessions where participants learn how to effectively use the kits in the classroom. For information about trainers in your county, contact the Be Active Kids Program Specialist at info@beactivekids.org.
Based on years of evaluation and overwhelming demand and in collaboration with the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute at UNC, Be Active Kids has developed an extensive, evidence-based movement guide. This one of a kind guide has a strong focus on the development of fundamental motor skills and movement concepts that will enable children to build the foundation for a lifetime of movement and active play that is both succesful and enjoyable.
