This special White House event celebrated the 40th anniversary of the passage of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and included a host of officials from government, the education community, advocates, and others to celebrate and reaffirm support for IDEA and to honor the many significant contributions that parents, teachers, service providers, administrators and many others have made. The occasion also offered the opportunity to focus on the future to ensure that infants, toddlers, and youths, with disabilities will continue to receive a free and appropriate public education.
