Biographical Statement
Hsiu-Wen Yang, PhD, is a technical assistance specialist/research investigator at FPG who is deeply committed to supporting inclusive and equitable education and services for all young children. Her work centers on supporting families and professionals in maximizing children’s learning potential through interventions and resources. Additionally, she has a strong interest in workforce preparation in early intervention and early child special education. She is PI of Promoting Seasonal and Migrant Head Start Children's Development: Program Practices That Matter, and a co-PI on Inclusive STEM: Professional Development Series for Head Start Teachers in Maryland and SCRIPT-NC. She also works on STEMIE 2.0.
Hsiu-Wen Yang, PhD, began her career as a pediatric occupational therapist in Taiwan after earning her BA and MS in occupational therapy. Her experiences working with families to support their children’s learning at home inspired her to pursue a PhD in Early Childhood Special Education to develop effective strategies for family engagement and maximizing children’s learning outcomes. From 2019 to 2021, she served as a postdoctoral scholar with the STEMIE team, focusing on advancing STEM learning opportunities for young children with disabilities. She remains dedicated to promoting inclusive education and creating impactful resources for children, families, and professionals.
