FirstSchool Online Education and Support: Minnesota Partnership

The FirstSchool team will deploy an online course to promote student communication in PreK through third grade education. The course will begin at the end of April and end by December. The Minnesota Department of Education will offer the course to up to 500 PreK through third grade teachers and administrators. FirstSchool will provide a four-hour orientation in Minnesota prior to the launch of the course and will then spend two and half days with Minnesota regional consultants to help them master the coursework and build their capacity to support educators in their regions. Approximately half way through the course, the FirstSchool team will spend an additional two and a half days with Minnesota regional consultants to continue capacity-building. FirstSchool will provide a one-day closing event in Minnesota after the course is concluded. Teachers who complete the course will receive continuing education units through the University of North Carolina Center for Continuing Education. FirstSchool will assist the Minnesota Department of Education in their efforts to provide course credits for participants through the Minnesota state university system.
