Biographical Statement 

Sophia Farmer, MT, is an accomplished Implementation Specialist, Co-Director of FPG's National Implementation Research Network (NIRN), the K-12 Education Portfolio Lead at NIRN, and Director of the State Implementation and Scaling Up of Evidence Based Practices (SISEP) Center. With a career spanning 24 years in education, Farmer has held various roles, each adding depth and insight to her expertise.

Beginning her journey as a special educator, Farmer's passion for creating inclusive and effective learning environments led her to diverse roles such as district-level behavior support coordinator, regional technical assistance provider, and co-founder and director of the MTSS Center in Virginia. These experiences not only honed her skills but also laid the groundwork for her ongoing impact on education.

In her current role as an Implementation Specialist at NIRN, Farmer has made significant contributions to K-12 Education in the implementation and scaling of evidence-based practices. She has had the responsibility of leading the implementation of research findings by helping leaders and teams from state departments of education utilize implementation science principles and practices. She has successfully guided them in using the Active Implementation Frameworks to develop systems capacity to ensure long-term positive outcomes for students.

In addition to state systems reform, Farmer has collaborated with professors at various universities to teach new education leaders the power of implementation science to affect change. Furthermore, to ensure the widespread dissemination of implementation research and activities, she has actively contributed to the development of online learning modules and resources published on the Active Implementation Hub. This includes leading and developing the first micro-credentialing program for implementation science in the country. These resources serve as valuable references for educators, policymakers, and researchers interested in the field of implementation science.
