Transforming Implementation Practice in Early Childhood through the Development of a Professional Learning Program to support Practitioners' Implementation Capabilities

The purpose of this project is to support the development of early childhood practitioners’ ability to care for children and get them ready for kindergarten by improving their capacity for implementation of interventions in primary care settings. More specifically, the goals are to:

  • develop and refine needed supports and professional development modules on best practice implementation of early childhood interventions in clinical contexts, to include a five-level micro-credentialing (MC) program; and
  • support and pilot application of the knowledge and skills gained through the MC program by participating intervention and clinic staff for use in four to five medical clinics interested in implementing a literacy intervention, Reach Out and Read, for children age 0 to 5 and their families.

Availability of an accessible MC program has the potential to accelerate workforce development and use of implementation practices for early childhood interventions in medical settings.
